I will leave you softly…
Eversince my parents arrived, it became even harder for me to go on diet. My mom cooks for us now so you can imagine how difficult it is for me to resist food. I’ve been eating without care in the world. Just after two weeks of uncontrollable eating, I couldn’t fit in my clothes anymore. I knew then that I have to take drastic change with the way I eat. I know, this has been my litany for years now. My husband is so used to my habit. I always eat like there’s no tomorrow and then I will complain after that I ate a lot and that I’m extremely full and that I’m getting fatter. My husband will just shake his head and say nothing.
I’m back to dieting. I don’t starve myself. I try to eat right – not too much rice and more on veggies and fruits. So far I’ve been doing it for almost two weeks. One time I tried to bring veggie salad for lunch and my stomach was growling at work. I decided that I would still bring a cup of rice for lunch since I need the energy to do my job. One cup of rice is sufficient. This is good compared to three cups of rice per meal. Yes, I can eat as much as three cups. Eew!
My relatives who viewed my pictures in Friendster had only one thing to comment – Evi is so fat! I’m not offended because it’s true. It’s a challenge and I swear I will lose these unwanted pounds!

Kahihiyan ng Silangan (Disgrace of the East)
Here we are again. The political scene in the Philippines will surely make it into the Guiness Book of Records once again. Or maybe we should come up with a book of shame.
As we all know by now, our country is in the middle of a political crisis yet again. We just love rally, don’t we? I guess, we have too much time in our hands. Every speech is about finding the truth. The truth is right infront of our noses – the same politicians are doing the rounds and taking turns to corrupt our government. They accuse each other and yet the same corrupt politicians take the seat!
I watched the news last night and you bet, it was still about the neverending rally in Makati. And you know what is truly funny – Cory and Erap are now working hand in hand to oust Gloria. During Erap’s term, Cory and Gloria fought to remove him as president. Isn’t it ironic? More of laughing stock, I should say.
So, who’s next?

Do you believe that each and every one of us has a soulmate? I never thought it’s real until I met someone sometime in my life who made me realize that it does exist. Apart from liking the same things, we had some kind of a telepathy. However, we don’t always end up with our soulmate and often, we don’t even meet our soulmate.
I just finished Soulmate, a Korean soaper. Here is one of my favorite excerpts:
“You said that you thought she was love. Because you changed that much, you left. Something that changes that easily isn’t fate. I don’t know a lot about fate. But being unable to change even though you want to… being unable to run even though you want to. Something you couldn’t possibly ever shake off. I think it’s like that. Our love was something you could run away from. I don’t think that is fate.”
Did you find your soulmate? How did you meet?

I want to wake up in a city that doesn’t sleep.
One of the US states that I haven’t been to and I want to visit is New York. I don’t know exactly what makes the Big Apple an intriguing and interesting city. Could it be the Empire State Building? Or Ground Zero? My son has expressed his interest to go to New York because Santa’s sleigh landed in Central Park in the film, Elf and Spiderman lives here.
These are the places in New York that I want to see: Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Ground Zero and Times Square. Did I miss anything?
I want to do these things: watch a Broadway show, shop and experience the subway.
We always take tours anywhere we go. So, I know for sure that we would be looking for New York sightseeing tours. It’s the fastest way to go around. However, I learned through experience that not all tour operators have good packages. I think some operators have lost that personal touch. Some are just in a hurry to drive you around. It is important for a tour operator to have that attention to details.
We planned to go this year but since my parents are here now, we moved this plan to a later date. We will take my parents around Canada first. Don’t start spreading the news yet because I’m not leaving today.

Music’s No Good Without You
Everytime I go to HMV or Best Buy, I keep on looking for Cher’s Farewell Concert DVD but to no avail. I want one for my collection and also because I thought I would never be able to see her perform in the flesh ever again since she already did her last concert.
For me, Cher is a total entertainer. She has an incredible voice. She got the moves. Her concerts are always loaded with state of the art renditions. She has impeccable taste when it comes to her hairstyles. She has good acting skills for which she actually won an Academy award for best actress. No wonder she has been in the entertainment business for decades and has received numerous awards.
So, you can imagine how thrilled I was upon knowing that Cher will replace Celine Dion now that Celine’s 5-year gig in Las Vegas has ended. I will surely grab a couple of Cher tickets for Caesars Palace in Las Vegas if we ever decide to go there. Cher’s gig will commence this year.
I still want to own her farewell tour DVD even if I know that I can now catch her live in Vegas. It wouldn’t be easy for someone as good as Cher to lie low from the limelight because fans will constantly demand appearances from their favorite star.
Thanks for stepping back into the spotlight, Cher. Music is no good without you.
